Madame Regent Retires

June 1st, 2008

My two-year term as Regent of the Mary Shirley McGuire Chapter, NSDAR came to a close on May 17, 2008. The event took place at Southfork Ranch in Plano, TX at our annual Spring Luncheon.

I’m glad I had the honor and opportunity of serving the chapter as regent. I worked with wonderful dedicated and dependable ladies on the executive board who became good friends. Our chapter grew from 143 members to 169. We have become known at the state level as a chapter who does things and people like coming to. We are a model for other chapters. We have raised thousands of dollars to help DAR veteran’s projects and the USO at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. We promoted American history by sponsoring essay contests and presenting portraits of George Washington to Plano schools. We brought The Constitution alive to students in Plano by sponsoring assemblies during Constitution Week. We promoted patriotism by participating in Memorial Day and 4th of July parades with the SAR. I really love being a member of the DAR. Our motto is “God, Home, Country.” Those are all the things I believe in and love.

You look mahvelous dahling! Long time no hear. I built a new house two summer/autumns ago and moved a year and a half ago. You guys need to come out for dinner and oohing and aahing over the new digs. I might even live closer to you as the crow flies. I live in a place called Lantana, Texas. It’s about halfway between I35W and I35E just south of Denton maybe 10 miles or so? If you know where Highland Village is, I’m just west of it by a couple of miles at most.

You’ll be thrilled to know Olivia is expecting George Washington Springer in the middle of September sometime. We’re GW fans through and through, no? Everyone married now except Nick who will be 22 in December and can’t decide if he wants to grow up or not.

Contact me and let’s set a date for dinner.

Love,
Noelle
